Herzstein Fund gives $5,000 for Resurrection Catholic School chess program
On March 1, 2018 the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Charitable Foundation of Houston, TX gave a grant of $5,000 to the Chess in Christian Schools Foundation. We will us the funds to support the chess program at Resurrection Catholic School, a Title 1 school in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Kempner Fund gives $3,000 for Holy Family School chess program
On December 5, 2017 the Harris and Eliza Kempner Fund of Galveston, TX gave a grant of $3,000 to the Chess in Christian Schools Foundation. We will use the funds to support the chess program at Holy Family Catholic School, a Title 1 school in Galveston. Our deepest thanks to the wonderful people at the Kempner Fund. You can find out more about them and the good work they do at kempnerfund.org. On April 22, 2017, Dr. John Milbauer donated #200 to Chess in Christian Schools. Thank you, John! This will make a wonderful difference in our program.
On Feb. 1, 2017, the Kinder Foundation contributed $5,000 to Chess in Christian Schools, for a total of $10,000 from the Kinder Foundation for the 2016-2017 School Year. The money is being used to sustain CICSF support the four "Kinder Chess" schools: Resurrection, Our Lady of Fatima (Galena Park), St. Mary's (League City), and St. Jerome's. Since the beginning of the school year in August 2016, the following people made contributions to CICSF: Charles Lafond ($100); Carol Datillo ($150); Jennifer Erwing ($100); Mark McCreary ($20); Beth and Sherm Johnson ($100), and Carol Greco ($50). God Bless you one and all!!

Through 14 Dec 16, 2017 the CICSF Directors have contributed $5,539 to Foundation costs and to sustaining the chess program at St. Peter the Apostle School
17 Oct 16 – Carole Marcely contributes $1,800 to CICSF. The money will be used to sustain the chess program at St. Peter the Apostle School through the holidays. God bless Carole Marcely!
27 Sep 16 – The Nancy and Richard Kinder Foundation awards CICSF a $5,000 grant to start up chess programs at Christian Schools. Priority will be given to Title 1 schools (serving low income neighborhoods). The money is allocated to tutor fees for Our Lady of Fatima, Resurrection, Saint Jerome, and Saint Mary (League City) Catholic Schools. Thank you and God bless Nancy and Richard Kinder!
Aug – Sep 16 – CICSF assists St Martha Catholic School (Humble) in securing a $10,000 grant from the Houston City Council under the Harris County Department of Education CASE for Kids program. God bless Councilman Dave Martin!
29 Aug 16 – An anonymous donor pledges $3,600 for a one year chess scholarship at St. Peter the Apostle School. Thank you and God bless our anonymous donor!
2015 – 16 School Year
Throughout the school year the CICSF Directors contribute $9,336 to the start up expenses of the Foundation, and to sustaining the chess program at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School
CICSF received a $2,500 award from the Houston City Council under the Harris County Department of Education CASE for Kids program to be used to support the chess program at St. Peter the Apostle School . Thank you , and God bless Councilman Dwight Boykins!
